The Night A City Became Divided

On August 13, 1961, shortly after midnight, East German soldiers laid barbed wire and bricks, constructing the Berlin Wall. The strip of wall went through the heart of East Berlin, beginning at the Friedrichstrasse to the Spree River, and across to West Berlin.
